Cutting the Film in Mirror Mode

• Before cutting, set your cutting machine to mirror mode to ensure the design is correctly oriented when transferred onto the textile.

• Use a flex blade designed for heat transfer flex and adjust the blade depth according to the material’s thickness. This prevents damage to the polyester backing while ensuring a clean cut.

• Optimise blade settings for precision, especially for intricate details. To avoid errors, perform a test cut before full production.

Weeding

• After cutting, remove excess material around the design.

• Use tools like a hook or tweezers for accurate weeding, leaving only the desired design on the polyester backing.

Positioning and Transferring the Design

• Place the textile on the heat press, ensuring the surface is clean.

• Position the design (with the polyester backing still attached) in the desired area.

• Cover the design with silicone paper to prevent direct contact between the heat press platen and the polyester film.

• Set the heat press to 100°C, apply medium pressure, and press for 20 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.

Removing the Polyester Backing (Cold Peel)

• Let the textile cool completely before removing the polyester backing.

• Once cooled, carefully peel off the backing at a low angle to prevent lifting and ensure the flex marking remains securely attached.

• Press again with silicone paper at 100°C, applymedium pressure, and press for 20 seconds.  This is the seal press.
